How we manage domain names
A short description of Domain Names and Domain Name Services.
A domain name identifies one or more IP addresses. For example, the domain name microsoft.com represents about a dozen IP addresses. These domain names are used by URLs to find the location of Web pages hosted on the Internet.
In our Web site example, in the URL http://www.whamweb.com, the domain name is whamweb.com. We also use a Static IP of: 67.20.65.32. When that IP address is typed into an Internet browser address bar, the page will also display the same information as http://whamweb.com.
When you decide on the name you would like to use for your Web site, you must first check to see if it's available. The most common TLDs used in the U.S. are: .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and .us, but there are many more to choose from.
